Zyuganov describes his meeting with Belarus president as ‘thorough discussion of all issues’

MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) - Chairman of the Communist party faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov told reporters about his meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

“Alexander Lukashenko and I meet regularly. We discuss all the problems in great detail,” Gennady Zyuganov said.

Today's meeting considered, among things, the development of the Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the industrial field. “We need to pool our efforts, to the maximum extent possible, to develop, first of all, machine building. This sector is very well developed in Belarus. We are very interested in your capabilities and prospects in this regard,” Gennady Zyuganov said.

He cited the example of Belarusian harvesters that can compete with many foreign analogues. “They are much cheaper. The quality, as recent tests have shown, is much better. In the long term, we can promote this product in the Russian market. This is a very promising model,” Gennady Zyuganov said.

The topic of electric vehicles was also raised during the meeting. It was noted that this industry holds great promise. It is no wonder that many countries have given it high priority. “Belarus together with the Chinese partners has produced such a vehicle. I believe that we must collaborate and think how we can implement such projects. In this regard, the experience of Belarus with the People's Republic of China, Russia's experience with Belarus and China can come in handy. Today, China has become the world’s workshop, and we need to think how to implement new projects. You have a number of good projects that are well underway. We can learn from you,” Gennady Zyuganov said.

The cooperation in the agricultural industry was also reviewed during the meeting. Gennady Zyuganov told the Belarusian president about people's farms in Russia and noted Belarus’ positive experience in developing agro-industrial centers – agro-towns. “I would like us to share experiences and implement such projects. I hope that the mutual exchange of views and experiences will benefit our countries,” he added.

According to Gennady Zyuganov, there are plans to hold a jubilee plenum of the council of the communist parties of the former Soviet Union countries soon. A Belarusian delegation has been invited to attend the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the October revolution in Russia. These matters were also raised during the meeting with the Belarusian head of state.
