Zhuravkov: Belarus, Russia enjoy positive dynamics in education cooperation

MOSCOW, 24 November (BelTA) – Belarus-Russia education cooperation enjoys positive dynamics, Education Minister Mikhail Zhuravkov said at the meeting of the board of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Education Ministry and the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus on 24 November, BelTA informs.

“Almost every area of the education cooperation shows improvement, which positively affects the results of all education systems and the social and economic development of Belarus and Russia in general,” said Mikhail Zhuravkov.

Mikhail Zhuravkov stressed the need to simplify the rules of receiving educational services for the citizens of the Union State and address the issues related to cooperation in the scientific sphere. “We have recently felt the need to update cooperation between our agencies in what concerns youth affairs, especially in counteracting the popularization of extremism ideas. For this we need to create necessary conditions for developing cooperation and fill it will concrete initiatives,” said the minister.

The Education Minister of Belarus also called for closer cooperation in the international arena. “I believe there is a possibility of implementing joint international education programs with third countries, which also can be of interest for trade and economic partners of Belarus and Russia,” he said.

Today’s meeting discusses the results achieved in the implementation of the Union State social development concept for 2011-2015 in part of education and youth policy, prospects of developing the common education and sci-tech space in the Union State.
