Xi Jinping’s visit to add impetus to China-Belarus economic cooperation

BEIJING, 4 May (BelTA) - The state visit of China President Xi Jinping to Belarus will add a new powerful impetus to the development of the Chinese-Belarusian economic cooperation, Chinese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Cheng Guoping told BelTA.

“Taking into account the big mutual complementarity of the economies of Belarus and China the potential of our bilateral cooperation is still untapped,” the Chinese representative stressed. In his words, there are a lot of new promising areas in developing ties between the two countries.

When asked about the prospects of expanding the Belarusian exports to China and harmonizing Belarus’ trade deficit, the Chinese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said: “The relevant ministries and departments should positively consider the opportunities and ways of further optimization of the trade structure of bilateral cooperation. I am confident that we can expect the signing of important economic agreements during the forthcoming visit.”
