Wiktorin: PPP initiative is among EU most successful projects in Belarus

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – The initiative to develop public-private partnership (PPP) is one of the most successful projects in Belarus financed by the EU, Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Andrea Wiktorin said at the opening of the conference “On the Way to Success of Public-Private Partnership in Belarus” on 6 November, BelTA has learned.

“The EU/UN project to promote public-private partnership in Belarus is among the most successful initiatives financed by the EU in your country. It should also be mentioned that our national partners have been taking an active part in the PPP development,” she noted. As an example Andrea Wiktorin named Belarusian agencies such as the Economy Ministry and the Finance Ministry, other ministries and business associations.

The Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus also stressed that over the three years of the project the country has achieved considerable progress in PPP development. The Law on Public-Private Partnership, which is to be adopted soon, testifies to the fact. “Today’s conference is the last event within the framework of our project. Thus, it is of great importance to outline further steps in the development of the public-private partnership in your country. It is worth mentioning that Belarus has already fulfilled a number of our recommendations,” she said.

The international conference “On the Way to Success of Public-Private Partnership in Belarus” is underway in Minsk on 5-6 November. The main goal of the event is to outline further steps in PPP development in Belarus taking into account the best practices in the implementation of PPP projects.
