Voskanyan: Belarus may become western gateway to European market for EEU

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Belarus may become a western gateway for the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) to the European market, Chairman of the Board of the German-Belarusian Economic Club Hovsep Voskanyan said at the conference held on 10 November to celebrate the 8th Day of German Economy in Belarus slated for 12 November, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of the German-Belarusian Economic Club, taking into account the current difficult macroeconomic situation in the region Belarus has been taking the right steps, including the diversification of the exports. “Germany is interested in Belarus as an EEU member state, and it become a western gateway to the European market,” he said.

According to Hovsep Voskanyan, in Belarus there are about 350 German companies. Some of them have rich experience of operation on the Belarusian market. On the Day of German Economy they will share their experience in working in Belarus and their vision of the prospects on the Belarusian market.

At the same time the head of the club stressed that the Day of German Economy is a mirror reflection of the Day of the Belarusian Economy which was held in Berlin in October. Both the events are aimed at the expansion of the Belarusian-German contacts.
