Volfovich: Western neighbors ignored Belarus' repeated calls for dialogue

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – Belarus has repeatedly called on its western neighbors to establish dialogue but has received no response, State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich told the media following a presidential meeting on the KGB performance, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Volfovich noted that the KGB has been effectively countering national security threats amid the current challenging environment, including aggressive rhetoric from Polish and Baltic leadership. “Under these extremely difficult circumstances, the State Security Committee and other security agencies continue to fulfill their tasks,” the state secretary emphasized.

He also commented on Belarus’ western neighbors’ sensitive reaction to the Zapad 2025 military exercises. “Every measure has been taken to avoid provoking our neighbors, with the exercise moved inland, away from the border. Yet in response, we continue to see nothing but unfriendly steps,” Aleksandr Volfovich stated.

The state secretary added that on multiple occasions Belarus has proposed restoring friendly constructive dialogue, particularly through border service channels. “Unfortunately, we have yet to see any willingness from our neighbors to reengage in meaningful discussions,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
