MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – European leaders should come to their senses and should stop threatening themselves. State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich made the statement on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Volfovich said: “The leadership of Germany, Poland, the Baltic states, and European leaders as a whole should come to their senses. After all, you can see what is happening to Europe. After all, Belarus doesn’t threaten Europe and the Russian Federation doesn’t threaten Europe. They threaten themselves. They are now getting militarized. They spend all the money on defense to the detriment of social and economic projects.” In his words, it is a scary situation. There is no reason to explain a thoughtless increase in the strength of the armed forces in Europe.
“Yes, they say they are threatened by Belarus, by the Russian Federation. But we can see that reconnaissance assets of western countries fly along our borders practically non-stop. As many as 15 recon aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles reconnoitered along the borders of the Republic of Belarus within 24 hours. And it happens practically every 24 hours. In other words, they see perfectly well what is going on in our territory today. And they see that we don’t threaten the West in the slightest,” the state secretary of the Security Council stressed. “This is why they should come to their senses, they should stop and truly look at these matters in a different way. They should look for ways to make things better for their own population.”
