Busko: China as a strategic partner is important for Belarus

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – China as a strategic partner is important for Belarus. The statement was made by Vitaly Busko, Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, in anticipation of the state visit of China President Xi Jinping to Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The MP said: “In his address to the nation and the parliament the Belarus president emphasized our relations with China. It is truly very important for Belarus to have the great country of China as a strategic partner. For now it is the world’s second economy but I think it will become the first one. A huge number of agreements have been signed between our countries. The establishment of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is in progress. The park will become a new stage in the bilateral cooperation. It will allow our highly intellectual manufacturing sector to make products using Chinese capital and sell them to Europe.”

Vitaly Busko said he was confident that during the visit of the China president to Belarus a number of new agreements on strategic partnership and economic cooperation will be signed. “Considering new factors of the political situation I think that various issues will be discussed by our leaders. The situation is tense, there are economic problems, and China could help us recover from the current situation,” the MP was convinced.

China President Xi Jinping is expected to be in Belarus on a state visit on 10-12 May. He will visit Minsk upon the invitation of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. Earlier BelTA quoted Chinese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Cheng Guoping as saying that in Minsk the presidents of Belarus and China will exchange views on items on the international agenda and the bilateral agenda.
