U.S. expert: Belarus demonstrates high level of agricultural development

MINSK,31 October (BelTA) - Belarus demonstrates a high level of agricultural development, representative of the U.S. Livestock Genetics Export Association Martin Sieber said as he met with Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats on 31 November, BelTA informs.

“I am in Belarus for the first time and I am really impressed with what I have seen in its agriculture, its equipment and sizes of its farms,” noted Martin Sieber.

According to the expert, it is one of the first visits of a delegation of U.S. scientists and businessmen to Belarus. “The purpose of our visit is to study the state of the industry and outline the areas of our further cooperation. Embryotransfer is the first program which is already underway. I was pleasantly surprised that Belarus shows a huge interest in the area. We are mulling over possible action plans together with the Belarusian stakeholders,” he said.

According to Martin Sieber, the short-range plans include a visit of U.S. vet specialists to Belarus. “During our current visit we have seen the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy in Gorki. We were profoundly impressed with the equipment of the academy, the number of departments and the personnel retraining level. The level I have seen corresponds to the level of equipment and technologies of the United States and Europe,” stressed Martin Sieber.

The delegation from the United States will stay in Belarus until 4 November. The program of the visit includes meetings with representatives of the NASB Scientific and Production Center of Animal Breeding.
