Twinning relations between Grodno Oblast and Chinese Gansu Province hailed as exemplary

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – Twinning relations between Grodno Oblast and Gansu Province of China are exemplary, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin said as he met with Wang Sanyun, Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, BelTA has learned.

Anatoly Kalinin stressed that the relations of all-round strategic partnership between Belarus and China are actively developing. The dialogue is strengthening at all levels. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and China President Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the Tashkent SCO Summit a few days ago to discuss the key issues of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation.

“Cooperation with China is one of Belarus’ foreign policy priorities. During China President Xi Jinping’s visit to Belarus in May 2015 the leaders of Belarus and China identified regional cooperation as an engine of trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the states,” the Belarusian Vice Premier said.

In the common system of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation, the twinning relations between Grodno Oblast and Gansu Province have become exemplary, Anatoly Kalinin said. The parties find more and more forms of interaction, have established a permanent effective exchange of visits. As positive examples Anatoly Kalinin cited the projects to set up the Belarusian-Chinese center of trade cooperation, and the center for commerce, science, technology and education of Gansu Province. A center of Chinese traditional medicine will soon open in Grodno. China is also taking part in the reconstruction of a hotel in Grodno. In the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park businessmen from Gansu Province will produce malt.

The Vice Premier assured that the Belarusian government will continue supporting mutually beneficial Belarusian-Chinese projects.

For his part, Wang Sanyun emphasized the importance of further development of all-round contacts with Belarus.

The delegation of China’s Gansu Province is on a visit to Minsk from 29 June to 1 July with the aim of intensifying cooperation with Belarusian counterparts in every area.
