Turchin: CIS needs flexible strategies to adapt to changes

MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – The formation of flexible strategies will help the CIS countries promptly respond to changing conditions, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said during a meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Minsk on 29 September, BelTA has learned.

“The modern world is characterized by high turbulence caused by unpredictable events. This significantly complicates the forecasting of social and economic development in the medium and long term.

For the CIS countries this underscores the need for more flexible strategies, which include reserve mechanisms and prompt response in order to ensure the resilience of cooperation and minimize risks for common development,” Aleksandr Turchin said.

He particularly emphasized the second stage of the CIS economic development strategy through 2030, describing it as an economic roadmap for the next five years.

“The implementation of the previous strategy delivered major achievements, including the alignment of national industrial policies across various areas, the development and reinforcement of the electric power sector’s technological base, and collaborative advances in both nuclear and renewable energy. The CIS is progressively integrating its currency, stock, and insurance markets and enhancing tax and customs cooperation. Major advances have been made in labor market integration, migration regulation, social and humanitarian ties,” the prime minister stressed.

“It has been proven that stable integration ties between countries allow overcoming consequences of economic crises and other global challenges with fewer losses,” the Belarusian prime minister emphasized.
