Sweden notes Belarus’ commitment to reaching SDGs

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Belarus demonstrates a clear-cut commitment to reaching the Sustainable Development Goals, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Belarus Christina Johannesson on 19 December.

The ambassador remarked that Belarus puts a lot of effort into reaching the SDGs and demonstrates a clear intention to continue working on it.

A new national strategy on reaching SDGs will come into effect in Sweden in 2018. Sweden is ready to share its experience with Belarus. Christina Johannesson pointed out that all the strata of the society are getting involved in the strategy’s implementation in Sweden and work is in progress in various branches of the economy. Belarus practices the same approach. Reaching the Sustainable Development Goals in economic, ecological, and social spheres in Belarus, including via public private partnership, was the key item on the agenda of the parliamentary hearings in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on 19 December. The ambassador took part in the hearings.
