Svetlov: Belarus-China cultural ties have been growing stronger

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – Cultural ties between Belarus and China have been constantly growing stronger, Culture Minister of Belarus Boris Svetlov told media ahead of the opening ceremony of the Days of Chinese Culture in Belarus, BelTA informs.

According to the minister, the Belarusian-Chinese relations in culture have been steadily developing. The commission on cultural cooperation under the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee contributes to the strengthening of bilateral relations. At its meeting in Minsk on 13 October the commission will consider a block of issues to introduce new elements to mutual relations between cultural establishments of the two countries. “Our goal is to outline areas for concrete activity between cultural organizations,” said Boris Svetlov. It pertains to the organization of master classes, meetings with representatives of national cultures.

According to Deputy Minister of Culture of the People’s Republic of China Ding Wei, the Chinese delegation he is leading would like to get Belarusians familiar with the Chinese culture. The Days of Chinese Culture features a play at the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater and an exhibition at the National Art Museum of Belarus. Such events bring nations together, he believes.

The Beijing People’s Art Theater performs in Minsk for the first time. The Chinese theater has brought its play Our Jing Ke to the stage of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater. The play tells the story of legendary soldier Jing Ke. The tale is nearly as old as China and familiar to all Chinese people. Performances are held on 12-13 October.

Masterpieces of Chinese traditional weaving and embroidery arts of the 19th -21st centuries and the costumes of numerous Chinese nationalities will be on display at the Belarus National Art Museum on 14-24 October.

The Days of Chinese Culture are underway in Belarus on 12-14 October.
