Surikov: Belarus-Russia Union State will long remain example for other integration associations

MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – The Belarus-Russia Union State will long remain an example for other integration associations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov told the media on 9 June, BelTA has learned.

The Ambassador noted that the two countries might update the Union State regulatory framework in the future in view of the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union. “In all other areas, the interaction of our peoples in the Union State will long remain an example for all integration associations between former republics of the Soviet Union and not only them. On many positions the Union State is ahead of other international integration associations,” Alexander Surikov believes.

“Further strengthening of the Russian-Belarusian interaction and acceleration of the mutually beneficial integration meets the fundamental interests of the brotherly peoples,” added the diplomat. A special feature of the Russian-Belarusian relations is an intensive political dialogue. The Ambassador also recalled the significant achievements in the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, interregional cooperation, cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture and so on.
