Spanish ambassador: Belarus is becoming increasingly interesting to other countries

BREST, 9 October (BelTA) - Belarus is becoming increasingly interesting to other countries, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain to Belarus on concurrent accreditation Ignacio Ybanez Rubio said in an interview to the Stolichnoye Televideniye TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus is becoming increasingly interesting to other countries and the European Union in the first place. We, in Spain, see it as a good sign. My intention is to strengthen our relations and make them more intensive,” said Ignacio Ybanez Rubio.

According to the diplomat, one of the steps for more effective development of relations between the two countries will be the first meeting of the joint Spanish-Belarusian commission on economic and industrial cooperation scheduled to be held in Minsk on 18 October. "Representatives of Spanish companies have already heard about the potential of Belarus in various fields: trade, industrial cooperation, energy, agriculture. Another good direction is tourism, where Spain has vast experience. We can be useful to each other in this sector,” the ambassador said.

Ignacio Ybanez Rubio noted that Belarus is an attractive country, which should only increase its importance in the tourism market. “Belarus has what it takes to be a popular tourist destination: its famous hospitality and the ability to receive guests. Belarus has its history and natural wealth. Tourists like such things,” the ambassador said.
