Snopkov: Belarus is a successful partner in the new Silk Road initiative

BEIJING, 14 May (BelTA) – Belarus is a successful partner in the implementation of the new Silk Road initiative, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Nikolai Snopkov told the media on 14 May, BelTA has learned.

“Since the announcement of the Belt and Road initiative, Belarus has been an open supporter and a successful partner in the implementation of the concept. Belarus was the European first country and one of the first states in the world to join the project, viewing it as a friendly and beneficial concept,” Nikolai Snopkov said.

He stressed that the country is building mutual relations with China on the principles of openness, mutual benefit and development. It is no coincidence that the Belarusian president is attending the Belt and Road forum as one of its honorary guests.

“The concept is based on the ancient Silk Road initiative which was founded on the ideology of openness, mutual respect and mutual benefit. For Belarus the ideology of good neighborliness has always been a fundamental one,” the deputy head of the Belarus President Administration said.

During his working trip to China, Alexander Lukashenko is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. These talks will become another impetus for bilateral cooperation, Nikolai Snopkov said. “The friendly relations between the two leaders create new positive feelings, interesting solutions and areas of cooperation, and new ideas that will be implemented for the benefit of the two countries,” Nikolai Snopkov said.
