Snopkov: Belarus cooperates actively with China as part of Belt and Road initiative

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – Belarus cooperates actively and openly with China as part of the Belt and Road initiative, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Nikolai Snopkov noted during the 2nd Belarus-China humanitarian scientific forum on the alignment of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on 15 June, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus cooperates actively and openly with China as part of the Belt and Road initiative. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly noted that we are not forging an alliance with China against anyone. We are cooperating for the good of our nations. This ideology goes hand in hand with the vision of a civilization as a community of common destiny voiced by China President Xi Jinping,” Nikolai Snopkov remarked.

The politician recalled that a month ago a truly historical event took place in Beijing. He referred to the Belt and Road summit attended by over 30 heads of state and government, some 1,500 guests from 130 countries, and representatives of 70 international organizations.

The Belt and Road initiative is not associated only with economic partnership. It is a deep unifying philosophy of international cooperation in the first place. Basically, it says: prosperity can be achieved only through joint peaceful and mutually beneficial development. Belarus has become Europe's first country and one of the first states in the world to welcome and support China's determination to protect international peace,” Nikolai Snopkov emphasized.

The 2nd Belarus-China humanitarian scientific forum is another step to implement and give substance to the Belarus-China declaration on establishing relations of trust-based comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation signed by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

The 2nd Belarus-China humanitarian scientific forum on the alignment of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the EAEU is running in Minsk from 15 to 16 June. The event aims to strengthen and expand Belarus-China scientific and humanitarian cooperation. This should be achieved through knowledge exchange between Belarusian and Chinese scientists. They are set to work out a number of theoretical and practical measures to align the interests and potentials of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the EAEU.
