MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) - Slovakia’s OSCE Chairmanship hails Belarus’ efforts to ensure security in the region, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Special Representative for Slovak 2019 OSCE Chairmanship Lukas Parizek told BelTA.

“I appreciate Belarus’ efforts to maintain and ensure security in the region and worldwide. Minsk has proved itself worthy as an initiator of dealing with security threats,” he said.

Counter-terrorism is the issue number one today. “Terrorism, unfortunately, has gone nowhere in the recent years,” the state secretary said. He stressed that the Minsk meeting would not focus on counter-terrorism in general, but on concrete ways to use new technologies to fight it.

Lukas Parizek added that thanks to the OSCE chairmanship Slovakia had also focused its attention on the issue.
