Skrabec: European business community should learn more about Belarus

PORTOROZ, 19 November (BelTA) – It is important that the European business community should learn more about such a serious partner like Belarus, CEO of the Slovenian company Riko Janez Skrabec told BelTA. The company is the co-organizer of the 17th international business conference in Portoroz, Slovenia on 19-20 November.

Janez Skrabec stressed that Riko has been working successfully in Belarus for many years and views cooperation with Belarusian partners as efficient. "I am happy that this year Belarus is featured at the Portoroz business conference because we want European partners learn more about your county," he said. In his opinion, Belarus enjoys the stability which today's world is so lacking. "Belarus is a kind of bridge between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union," said the head of the company.

According to him, Belarus has good potential to develop close contacts with European partners. "Belarus has low corruption, transparent conditions for foreign investment and economic activity. In terms of many other indicators it is a good and reliable partner that foreign countries, including Slovenia take into account,” said Janez Skrabec.

The 17th annual international business conference in the Slovenian Portoroz is the largest economic forum in Slovenia and the region. The event focuses on the economic cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Every year the conference is attended by more than 400 representatives of big business and economic elites of the region.

This year one of the themes of the business-conference was dedicated to Belarus. It was called "Belarus in the beginning of the century: a blank spot on the map of Europe, or the model of political, economic and social survival of the nation sandwiched between two global players.”
