Sharif: Pakistan attaches great importance to cooperation with Belarus

ISLAMABAD, 29 May (BelTA) – Pakistan attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with Belarus, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan said as he met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 29 May, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus is an important country for us, and we place great importance on our relations with Belarus. We appreciate the visit of the Belarusian President and delegation to Pakistan,” Nawaz Sharif said.

He stressed that the negotiations in Islamabad were fruitful. The parties discussed cooperation in all areas, including trade, industry, agriculture, investments, culture, and education. The parties also talked over the possibility of strengthening the ties between the people of Belarus and Pakistan. Alexander Lukashenko and Nawaz Sharif reached an agreement on the implementation of several new initiatives.

“We agreed to intensify the cooperation between our parliaments and confirmed the mutual desire to develop and strengthen ties between Belarusian and Pakistani people,” Nawaz Sharif noted.

The parties also discussed the issues of regional and global cooperation. They agreed to intensify interregional ties and continue cooperating in international organizations, including the United Nations, to make today’s world more democratic, efficient, and effective.

Nawaz Sharif believes that the twenty documents signed in Pakistan lay the foundation for further bilateral cooperation. He also expressed confidence that the first business forum held as part of the visit will bring benefits. “Pakistan is creating wonderful conditions for attracting foreign investments, and I am sure that we will start setting up joint Belarusian-Pakistani enterprises in the near future,” the Prime Minister stressed.
