MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) – The legacy left by Ali Khamenei will continue serving as a guideline for those who strive to strengthen Iran’s independence, stability, and prosperity. Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko made the statement as he met with Chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, the press service of the House of Representatives told BelTA.
At the beginning of the conversation Igor Sergeyenko expressed condolences on behalf of the Belarus president, the Belarusian people, and himself over the tragic death of the former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“The passing of Ali Khamenei is an irreparable loss not only for the Iranian people but also for the countries friendly to Iran, which for many decades witnessed his state activities aimed at strengthening the sovereignty, independence, and national dignity of his country,” the head of the House of Representatives noted.
In his words, Ali Khamenei’s sincere desire to consolidate society, preserve traditions, and strengthen the spirit of the nation commands special respect. Igor Sergeyenko emphasized that for millions of Iranians he was a leader who never distanced himself from the people, going through any difficulties together with them and sharing common triumphs, aspirations, and hopes.
“Belarus and Iran have been developing relations of friendship, mutual respect, and constructive cooperation for many years. Ali Khamenei made a significant contribution to the development of these relations. The contribution will retain its significance in the future,” Igor Sergeyenko said.
The speaker wished the friendly Iran prosperity, peace, and stability. Igor Sergeyenko also addressed warm words to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mojtaba Khamenei, wishing him strength, wisdom, good health, and longevity for the benefit of his country and its people.
During the negotiations the parties discussed the international situation as well. Igor Sergeyenko assured that Belarus will continue providing Iran with comprehensive support in protecting the sovereignty and security of its citizens.
It was noted that Minsk intends to continue an open and trustful dialogue with Tehran. The speaker confirmed the readiness to implement previously reached agreements in various fields.
Iran is one of the strategic trade and economic partners of Belarus. The parties consider industrial cooperation to be the main driver of trade turnover growth. A number of joint projects are at various stages of implementation. Rich experience has been accumulated in training medical and technical personnel. To strengthen humanitarian ties, the Belarusian side considers it necessary to accelerate the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on mutual recognition of diplomas and education certificates.
The parties also share a common interest in interparliamentary interaction. The head of the House of Representatives is confident that bilateral ties will continue developing in a spirit of sincere warmth and mutual support. Minsk is intent on systematically expanding the legal framework of bilateral relations.
Taking the opportunity, Igor Sergeyenko invited Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf to pay an official visit to Minsk.
