SCO supports Belarus’ IT ecosystem initiative

SCO supports Belarus’ IT ecosystem initiative

TASHKENT, 1 November (BelTA) – Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Vladimir Norov welcomed the Belarusian initiative to create an IT ecosystem in the SCO as he met with Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas on 1 November, BelTA has learned.

“At the SCO summit, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko proposed to develop a common IT ecosystem in the SCO that would unite everything connected with digital economy, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things. We would be happy if Belarus developed a concept of its initiative,” Vladimir Norov said.

He stressed that Belarus has already achieved tangible results in the IT sector and export of IT products, so the country could initiate joint events, conferences, and roundtables.

Sergei Rumas noted that Belarus is interested in interacting with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and participating in its activities, including in the IT sector.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international organization set up in 2001. Its member states are India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. There are also four observer states, including Belarus that got its observer status in 2015.
