Sabalenka hopes new Minsk courts can inspire future champions

Sabalenka hopes new Minsk courts can inspire future champions

MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka, World No. 1, took part in a ceremony to open two modern clay tennis courts at Foma Zanko Secondary School No. 86 in Minsk, where her journey to professional tennis began. During the event, she conducted a clinic for children and young people passionate about tennis and answered their questions, BelTA has learned.

Returning to her former school, Aryna Sabalenka said, brought back many special memories. “There are so many wonderful memories, so many inspiring emotions and so much joy here. I’m very happy to be back home, to see friends I hadn’t met for a long time, and to visit the school where everything started and where I received tremendous support,” the tennis star said.

According to Aryna Sabalenka, events like this inspire not only children but also herself. “Everyone thinks I’m the one inspiring the kids. That’s not true - they inspire me. I’m so happy to see so many children who are passionate about tennis and dream of becoming great athletes,” she said. "It’s difficult to give every child individual attention, but I hope I was able to share at least a small part of myself with each of them.”

Asked what advice she would give aspiring athletes, Aryna Sabalenka stressed the importance of believing in oneself. “If you fully commit to your passion and work hard, opportunities will definitely come your way. The key is to make the most of them,” she said.

Aryna Sabalenka added that the new courts would contribute to the development of youth sports. “This is only a small step toward a better future. We have many more ideas and projects ahead. I hope we will be able to create the best possible conditions for children so that future champions will grow up right here,” she said.
