Ryzhenkov praises Minsk-Tehran cooperation on international platforms

MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) - Minsk and Tehran are successfully cooperating on international platforms, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov told journalists following his meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Minsk on 15 December, BelTA has learned.

Maxim Ryzhenkov emphasized that Belarus and Iran, as states subjected to sanctions pressure, condemn the use of economic restrictions that contradict the principles of international law, harm ordinary people, and provoke an escalation of tensions.

“In this regard, I am pleased to highlight the successful cooperation between our countries within the SCO and BRICS in promoting national interests on these international platforms, which represent the voice of the global majority,” the Belarusian foreign minister said.

Minsk also welcomes Tehran’s intention to take part in drafting the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st century, Maxim Ryzhenkov emphasized. He also expressed confidence that the free trade agreement between the EAEU and Iran, which entered into force on 15 May this year, will yield good results and contribute to peace and development across Eurasia.

“I would also like to confirm my intention to visit Tehran on an official visit at a time agreed by both sides. I am convinced that this visit will give additional momentum to our joint projects and help bring our countries even closer,” the Belarusian foreign miniser said. “The talks we held showed that we have a shared vision for building a strategic partnership. We are looking forward to taking new steps and implementing joint projects.”

Maxim Ryzhenkov added that the results of the talks will provide a solid foundation for furthering cooperation and strengthening friendship between the peoples of Belarus and Iran. “Thank you for your attention and interest in our work. We are open to dialogue and always glad to share positive results that benefit our peoples,” he assured.
