Russia, Belarus to cooperate in combating terrorism, extremism on the Internet

MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) - Russia and Belarus will cooperate in combating terrorism, extremism, drug abuse and child pornography on the Internet, Russian Deputy Mass Communications Minister Aleksei Volin said at the 11th Belarusian international media forum Partnership for the Future on 13 May, BelTA has learned.

Aleksei Volin said that the plan of action to develop the common information space of the Belarus-Russia Union State provides for joint work in a number of areas. Among them is the coverage of the activities of the Union State, joint projects in the field of print media, cooperation of news agencies, television, and radio. Special attention is given to common approaches to the development of the Internet. The parties advocate the sovereignty of the national segments of the Internet. However, Russia and Belarus will cooperate in combating such criminal acts on the Internet as promotion of child pornography, drug abuse, suicide, terrorism, extremism, he said

Aleksei Volin stressed that the document on the common information space was adopted not for the ministries but for citizens of the Union State. The document gives great attention to the cooperation in the field of information with all CIS countries, but above all, the Eurasian Economic Union where there is a greater level of integration on a number of positions.
