Romania pledges further assistance to Belarus-EU dialogue

MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – Romania supports and will continue to support the development of cooperation between the European Union and Belarus, Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor-Viorel Melescanu said in an interview with BelTA.

“Romania supports and will continue to support the dialogue and cooperation between the EU and Belarus. We welcome the results of mutual openness seen in the recent years: the abolition of sanctions, the development of bilateral dialogue (the EU-Belarus Coordination Group, the EU-Belarus Human Rights Dialogue), cooperation in energy, trade, investment, education, and the mobility of citizens,” Teodor-Viorel Melescanu noted.

Romania, he added, remains a supporter of a Belarus-EU visa facilitation agreement which is yet to be harmonized by the European Commission and the Belarusian government. “We hope that a compromise will be reached soon in this regard,” Teodor-Viorel Melescanu emphasized.
