Regional cooperation forum to help attract new investors to China-Belarus industrial park

Regional cooperation forum to help attract new investors to China-Belarus industrial park

SMOLEVICHI DISTRICT, 13 May (BelTA) – The international forum on regional cooperation and development within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative, which will take place in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone on 1-3 July, will help bring new investors among other things, BelTA learned from Aleksandr Yaroshenko, head of the administration of the industrial park.

Aleksandr Yaroshenko said: “Among other things the planned forum is supposed to attract new investments and investors. In particular, we hope that some of the companies we’ve set our eyes on will be attracted to our park.” In his words, those are a Belarusian company, a Swiss one, and a Chinese one.

The official said: “I hope we will see Belarusian residents with new technologies. We are talking about new materials for packaging (a brand new technology, which we intend to develop here). If we talk about the Swiss project, it is also a very interesting project in the area of high technologies. It is related to software products, storage and processing of large amounts of data. As for the Chinese company, we hope for a major project in the area of automobile components.”

Aleksandr Yaroshenko reminded that the industrial park intends to raise the number of resident companies up to 60 this year. “We now prioritize not the number of resident companies we attract but their development here, the construction of manufacturing facilities, and, most importantly, their commissioning,” he stressed.

“Open Great Stone park — an example of global opportunities” will be the key theme of the international forum on regional cooperation and development within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative. The forum is designed to bolster ties of the international investment community, representatives of the private sector, and government agencies. It will enhance the competitive ability and investment appeal of the park at the international level in addition to securing its status as the most open and comfortable site for doing business along the Belt and Road. Representatives of the countries participating in the Belt and Road initiative, diplomatic missions abroad and in Belarus, heads of business associations, investment funds, banks, private companies, and state ones are expected to take part in the forum.
