Quality of Stadler Minsk trains praised

GOMEL, 3 August (BelTA) – The trains assembled by the Belarusian company ZAO Stadler Minsk boast excellent quality and reliability. The statement was made by Philipp Brunner, director general of the company that makes the trains, when a business-class InterCity electric train entered into service on 3 August to transport passengers between Gomel and Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The executive said: “Belarusian specialists are very competent. These are not just words. A European customer, who was evaluating our work, underlined that the quality of welding and painting was the best he had seen. I believe that in the near future we will start shipping trains of a higher quality than Swiss ones.” Philipp Brunner went on saying that 3 August was a great day for the Stadler Minsk company because the first InterCity electric train that left Gomel for Minsk had been assembled in Belarus.

The first InterCity electric trainGomel Oblast Vice Governor Oleg Pochinok thanked the manufacturing company and the railway administration company for the ability to travel between Gomel and Minsk fast in safety and comfort. He stressed that an important stage in developing passenger transportation by electric trains had been accomplished. “It is a good gift for the passengers and the railway workers ahead of the professional holiday,” said the official.

The launch of business-class passenger transportation by an InterCity electric train between Gomel and Minsk was another stage in the campaign to develop a new format of passenger transportation that Belarusian Railways began in 2010. The business-class InterCity electric train will transport passengers between the country’s capital and the oblast capital in the morning and the evening as fast as possible while minimizing the number of stops.
