Putin: Boosting cooperation in the Union State is in the interests of Belarusian, Russian people

MOSCOW, 1 April (BelTA) – Boosting the all-round mutually beneficial cooperation in the Union State meets the basic interests of the brotherly peoples of Belarus and Russia, Russia President Vladimir Putin said in his message of greetings on the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Kremlin.

“For more than twenty years, Russians and Belarusians have been making steady steps along the integration path. Much has been achieved over these years. The level of trade, economic, scientific, technical, and humanitarian cooperation has been raised considerably. The same can be said about our relations in the field of security. We are working consistently to harmonize the national laws in major areas,” the message reads.

Vladimir Putin noted that all the branches of government maintain a substantive dialogue. Regions, cities and towns have established strong links. The business communities have developed direct ties. The citizens of Belarus and Russia enjoy equal rights in terms of employment, education, medical and social care.

“A major area of our relations is the coordination of foreign policy. Russia and Belarus cooperate in addressing the current issues on the regional and global agenda, interact closely in the United Nations, the OSCE, and other international bodies,” Vladimir Putin pointed out.

“I am confident that boosting the all-round mutually beneficial cooperation in the Union State meets the basic interests of our brotherly peoples and is in line with the effort to strengthen stability and security in Eurasia,” Vladimir Putin emphasized.
