Prime minister: The government should make decisions by relying on people’s opinion
Roman Golovchenko

ZHLOBIN, 24 July (BelTA) – In the course of making decisions the government should rely on people’s opinion. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement while talking to reporters during the visit to the Belarusian steel mill BMZ, BelTA has learned.

While meeting with BMZ workers, Roman Golovchenko asked those present a number of questions concerning a topic, which is being discussed at the legislative level. “I explained the essence of three suggested ways to resolve a problem motorists are concerned about and asked the people to say which option they like. As we make decisions at the government level, we should rely on their opinion,” the prime minister said.

According to Roman Golovchenko, the conversation turned out to be very dynamic and sincere. Mature questions were asked. The BMZ workers were concerned about a broad range of topics. Parents of school leavers wondered what professions will stay in demand in the future. Young families asked the prime minister about ways to receive state support for housing construction. Electricity tariffs after the launch of the Belarusian nuclear power plant were also on the agenda.

The prime minister stressed that BMZ has good prospects despite the existing debt commitments. “The state has provided support to the BMZ and respectively to the people, who work here. BMZ is the foundation of the Belarusian metallurgy industry, its core element,” Roman Golovchenko said during the meeting.

During the visit Roman Golovchenko also went on a tour of the manufacturing facilities and met with the company’s management.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BMZ, the Management Company of the holding company Belarusian Metallurgical Company (BMC), is a high-tech Belarusian metallurgical enterprise. It comprises infrastructure shops and four manufacturing divisions connected by one technological chain. The divisions focus on steel smelting, mill products, pipe products, hardware items. BMZ exports more than 80% of its output every year.
