Portugal President praises Belarus’ efforts on Ukrainian conflict settlement

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Portugal President Anibal Cavaco Silva highly appreciates Belarus’ efforts in settling the Ukrainian conflict. The Portuguese leader made the statement during the talks with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France with concurrent accreditation to Portugal Pavel Latushko, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in France.

“The President of Portugal commended Belarus’ role and efforts in settling the Ukrainian conflict,” the embassy said.

On 9-10 June Pavel Latushko took part in the Day of Portugal celebrations. “During the official ceremony to mark Day of Portugal the Belarusian Ambassador conveyed Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko’s greetings on Portugal’s national holiday to President Anibal Cavaco Silva,” the embassy said.

It is expected that Belarus’ Ambassador Pavel Latushko will hold meetings with Director General for Foreign Policy at the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Francisco Duarte Lopes to discuss the Belarusian-Portuguese cooperation in trade, economic and humanitarian areas and talk to Portuguese businessmen.
