Poroshenko sees no alternative to Minsk agreements

WASHINGTON, 20 June (BelTA-UKRINFORM) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko sees no alternative to the Minsk agreements. However, Ukraine is interested in the active participation of the United States in settling the conflict in the east of the country, the Ukrainian head of state told the media after his meetings in the White House.

“I do not see any need to change anything,” the president said when asked if any ways of changing the Minsk format were discussed in the White House.

President Petro Poroshenko noted that the United States is a partner of Ukraine and expresses strong support of the country. “We are very much interested in the U.S participation in the process. The United States is a guaranteeing power under the Budapest Memorandum. Today’s meeting emphasized the importance of Ukraine for the United States and the country’s determination to support our state,” he said.
