Policy of interethnic and interreligious peace described as Belarus’ brand

MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – The policy of interethnic and interreligious peace is the brand of Belarus, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with Turkey’s news agency Anadolu, BelTA informs.

“We are committed to the policy of interreligious peace, Belarus is famous for it. This is our brand, relying on peace, stability, absence of interethnic and interreligious discord. And we will be committed to this policy forever,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The president remarked that the mosque, which was opened in Minsk not long ago, is also a factor of such accord. Given a big number of Muslims, a decision was made to build a mosque in Minsk. The opening ceremony was attended by the Turkish president.

“The mosque, which we built, is a factor of accord and peace in our society. I am committed to that. Therefore, I am convinced that having a home here, just like Orthodox and Catholic believers, Jews and other believers, having the mosque, which their place of worship, Muslims are grateful to Belarus, to [Turkey President] Recep Tayyip Erdogan who invested funds in the project. We helped to build the mosque,” the president said.

“Аs far as I know, there are over 30,000 Muslims in Belarus, and they have never created any problems here,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
