Plans to extend visa-free travel period in Belarus up to ten days this year

Plans to extend visa-free travel period in Belarus up to ten days this year

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Plans have been made to extend the visa-free travel period in Belarus up to ten days by the end of the year, BelTA learned from Vitaly Gritsevich, Deputy Head of the Tourism Department of the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry, on 22 March.

When asked when travelers, who enter the country via the Minsk National Airport, will be able to stay in Belarus for ten days without visas, the official said: “I cannot give you a specific date but the matter can be resolved by the end of the year. Maybe even in summer but I am afraid of giving any certain dates.”

The Sports and Tourism Ministry representative specified that the visa-free travel period can be extended up to ten days after a number of other matters, including those relating to migration laws, are taken care of.

BelTA reported earlier that Belarus introduced a visa-free travel program for citizens of 80 countries in February 2017. On 1 January 2018 the visa-free travel period in certain parts of Brest Oblast and Grodno Oblast was extended up to ten days.
