‘Ordinary people support Lukashenko’: Lithuanian activist on situation at Belarus’ border

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Ordinary people in Lithuania support Aleksandr Lukashenko, Lithuanian activist Erika Švenčionienė, head of the International Forum of Good Neighborliness, said on the air of the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

“Lithuania has done nothing, absolutely nothing. It did not even organize some financial assistance so that people could stay overnight somewhere. It would be human, but we did nothing,” she said, commenting on the current situation at the Belarus-Lithuania border.

Erika Švenčionienė expressed deep gratitude to the president of Belarus for “allowing the people to go.” “They are not guilty. A corridor was created so they could return. It was a noble act, despite our authorities complaining that cars were left behind. Cars are not people. It is people whose lives are being broken,” the activist said.

She stressed that ordinary people support Aleksandr Lukashenko. “Everyone understands that we got what we deserved,” she concluded.
