Opinion: Political dialogue between Belarus, Poland facilitates economic cooperation

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - The political dialogue between Belarus and Poland facilitates the development of trade and economic cooperation, Marshal (Chairman) of the Senate of Poland Stanislaw Karczewski said as he addressed the Belarusian-Polish Economic Forum Good Neighborliness, BelTA has learned.

“I am happy to see a great number of participants from Poland and Belarus. This shows that cooperation will continue developing and will be beneficial to both countries,” Stanislaw Karczewski said.

He thanked Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich for the great contribution, commitment and efforts to bolster ties between Belarus and Poland. “Political meetings, political decisions are very important because they are followed by trade, investment, economic exchange. For us it is very important that this dialogue, this cooperation between our countries continue to grow,” he added.

Stanislaw Karczewski stressed that Belarus and Poland share a lot of things. “Our dialogue is advancing, moving towards greater cooperation. It is not only business or trade that bring us closer. It is something more,” he said. In this regard, the Polish Senate marshal said that the ceremony to unveil a plaque in honor of the famous Polish musician, composer and arranger Czeslaw Niemen in Grodno on 6 June was very symbolic.

He drew particular attention to the cooperation in science. The interaction between the academies of science and universities of Belarus and Poland has been gaining steam, Stanislaw Karczewski said. Like Belarus Poland is committed to innovative economy and the pooling of efforts and capacities will benefit both countries.

Speaking to reporters, Stanislaw Karczewski said that the cooperation with Belarus is developing in many areas: politics, economy, culture, science. We are pleased that our trade turnover and investments are on the rise, but the human dimension is very important. Our main priority is youth, the future. Cooperation between our young people inspire optimism in me. Hence our bold plans for cooperation in 2021-2027,” he noted.

Stanislaw Karczewski also invited Mikhail Myasnikovich to Lublin to continue the dialogue on the development of cooperation between Belarus and Poland.
