Opinion: Belarusian-Chinese humanitarian forum will boost mutual understanding between people

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – The second Belarusian-Chinese humanitarian scientific forum held in Minsk to discuss matters related to the alignment of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will contribute to mutual understanding between the people of Belarus and China, Cai Fang, Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), told the media ahead of the opening of the forum on 15 June, BelTA has learned.

“Such forums help build mutual understanding between people,” Cai Fang noted.

He emphasized that Belarus and China maintain their relations at a high level, especially after China President Xi Jinping suggested the Belt and Road concept, and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko was among the first to support his initiative.

“The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is currently the main project within the Belt and Road initiative. This is not a one-day or a one-year thing. The project requires time. Still, I am confident that thanks to the efforts of the two countries, we will successfully complete it,” Cai Fang stressed.

The second Belarusian-Chinese humanitarian scientific forum is running in Minsk on 15 and 16 June. Its aims to expand and strengthen the scientific humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and China in order to develop a set of methodological and practical measures to align the interests and capacities of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the EAEU.
