Opinion: Belarus plays important role in Eastern Partnership

TALLINN, 28 May (BelTA) - The role of Belarus in the Eastern Partnership program is very important, Director of the Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership Jaan Reinhold said during a meeting with Belarusian journalists.

“Belarus plays an important role in the Eastern Partnership program. There is a roadmap for cooperation with Belarus for the following two years, and we know how to move forward,” Jaan Reinhold said. In this collaboration it is very important to continue to enhance the policy of mutual trust. He also stressed that the EaP is predictable partnership and is not directed against anyone.

Jaan Reinhold noted that within the framework of the Eastern Partnership there is a big program to promote small and medium-sized businesses, including in Belarus.

For his part, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Estonia Anatoly Stepus noted that the Eastern Partnership is an initiative that brings mutual benefit to the member countries.

Hannes Rumm, a communications adviser at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke about the importance of Estonia's membership in the EU, which contributes to the economic development of the country.

In 2018 Estonia celebrates 100 years of independence. In this regard, the country is running a large number of different activities that reflect the newest achievements. Among them is the successful implementation of the e-government concept.
