Number of tech parks in Belarus to keep rising

MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – The number of technological clusters in Belarus will continue increasing, Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Alexander Shumilin said in an interview to Belarus One TV channel on 31 October, BelTA has learned.

When asked if the number of techno parks in Belarus is going to increase, the chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee provided a positive answer. “A techno park has already been set up in Pinsk. There are plans for more technology parks in Borisov and Orsha. Other cities are also under consideration,” he said.

According to Alexander Shumilin, there are 19 facilities of innovative infrastructure and ten techno parks in Belarus. “We are developing a platform for innovative entrepreneurship so that engineers, inventors could turn their ideas into trial models, get investment and launch the production,” he said.

The chairman also stated that all applied research projects that underwent state expertise got funded in 2017. “We plan to finance all the applied research in 2018 as well,” he added.
