RIGA, 20 May (BelTA) – I hope Belarus will soon become a full member of the Council of Europe, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks said at the first Eastern Partnership media conference in Riga on 20 May, BelTA has learned.

Nils Muiznieks stated that ahead of the summit he had visited all EaP member states, except for Belarus. “I hope to visit Belarus - a full member of the Council of Europe in the near future,” he said.

The first media conference on the role of the mass media in the Eastern Partnership is held on the initiative of Latvia, the current president in the EU, jointly with other establishments of the Eastern Partnership and the European Commission. The Organizers attach great importance to the meeting of mass media representatives of the EaP member states ahead of the summit.
