Nikolic: Belarus-Serbia economic cooperation should be as strong as friendship between two nations

MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) - Economic cooperation between Belarus and Serbia should be as strong as the friendship between the two nations, Serbia President Tomislav Nikolic told reporters after the talks with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

Tomislav Nikolic thanked Alexander Lukashenko for the invaluable support that Belarus provides to Serbia. "Our friendship is strong. So should be our economic cooperation," the Serbian President said.

He noted that through the joint efforts Belarus and Serbia increased the bilateral trade which amounted to $250 million in 2014. The parties recognize that this figure could be much higher and intend to work in that direction, said Tomislav Nikolic.

Today, the Presidents signed a statement which notes the need to boost trade and find new opportunities for advancing economic cooperation, improving the living standards of citizens of Belarus and Serbia.
