Nazarbayev calls for immediate humanitarian help for eastern Ukraine

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev called for an immediate humanitarian help for the east of Ukraine. The Kazakhstani head of state made this statement at the meeting of the leaders of the Customs Union, Ukraine and EU representatives in Minsk on 26 August, BelTA has learned.

“Today we should secure a large-scale humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian population in the first place. The Russian Federation has already started doing it. International organizations, including the Customs Union and the CIS should join the process,” the Kazakhstani leader said.

Kazakhstan for its part is ready to provide all-possible support, including the Kazakhstani office of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society. According to Nursultan Nazarbayev, this organization can also act as a neutral mediator in convoying humanitarian cargo from other states.

“On the whole it is of utmost important to secure an unbiased international control over the delivery of the humanitarian help to Ukraine. I call upon all conflicting parties to declare ceasefire in order to provide help to the Ukranian population,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
