Mukhamadiev: Belarus Red Cross is effective and reliable partner of IFRC

MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) - The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) sees Belarus Red Cross as an effective and reliable partner in addressing humanitarian challenges, the Head of IFRC Moscow Davron Mukhamadiev said when speaking at the opening of the 23rd Congress of Belarus Red Cross, BelTA has learned.

“In today's world the Red Cross movement is facing a lot of challenges and threats. Therefore, the staff and volunteers of Belarus Red Cross actively mobilize all efforts to counter such threats and help the neediest people in this difficult period. For the International Federation Belarus Red Cross is an efficient and reliable partner with which we actively work to solve humanitarian challenges in Belarus,” Davron Mukhamadiev said.

The head of the IFRS Moscow office said that the crisis in neighboring Ukraine was a test of strength for all Red Cross organizations in the region. Belarus received tens of thousands of people from the Ukraine. “Belarus Red Cross is coping well with this situation providing humanitarian assistance to those in need. For its part, the International Federation is also making efforts, and together we solve tasks regarding the support of the internally displaced persons,” he said.

He praised the interaction established between Belarus Red Cross and the government. “During recent meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, the Interior Ministry department for migration, the Department of Humanitarian Affairs of the President Administration I made sure that Belarus Red Cross is a strong and active partner of the government in addressing humanitarian challenges,” Davron Mukhamadiev
