More active voting in municipal elections in Belarus expected soon

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina expects more active voting in elections to the 28th convocation local councils of deputies soon, BelTA has learned.

The first few hours since voting began have been rather relaxed. “According to the data we receive from the regions, the number of voters, who have cast their votes, differs only slightly from the number of early voters. As of 10:00 some 3% of the voters have cast their votes in three regions. The numbers are still being calculated in the other regions,” said the official. “I expect a surge in voter numbers in the next few hours.”

Lidia Yermoshina told media that 18 February 2018 is a very convenient election date. “It is very easy to remember everything. It is very laconic,” believes the official. She regretted the insufficiently developed political technologies in Belarus. Due to this fact the combination of figures could not have been presented in witty ways.

BelTA reported earlier that 34.95% of the registered voters have opted for early voting in the municipal election campaign.
