Mogilev Oblast plans to step up cooperation with Russian regions

Mogilev Oblast plans to step up cooperation with Russian regions

MOGILEV, 2 February (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast intends to boost cooperation with regions of Russia, Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Domanevsky noted during a meeting with delegations from Russian regions dedicated to Mogilev Oblast’s 80th anniversary, BelTA informs.

“Mogilev Oblast-Russia cooperation has been demonstrating positive dynamics in the last two years, in part thanks to the implementation of joint projects with Russian regions in different fields. Russia remains our strategic partner, accounting for over 60% of Mogilev Oblast’s exports. At the same time, Mogilev Oblast finds new export destinations every year, which shows the competitiveness of Belarusian products,” Vladimir Domanevsky underlined.

Investment cooperation between commercial entities has been growing stronger. There are over 60 companies with Russian capital operating in Mogilev Oblast. “In our opinion, we should be setting up joint high-technology ventures, making competitive products, and exporting them to third countries. Such interaction holds great promise,” the governor remarked.

Mogilev plans to host a session of the organizing committee of the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia (scheduled for September). The organizational issues and the plan of action will not be the only points on the agenda. “We would like to analyze Belarus-Russia regional cooperation, find points of growth and prospects for further development to come up with specific projects and proposals ahead of the forum and even implement several economic and social initiatives,” the governor said.

In his opinion, it is still important to enable equal working conditions to step up mutually beneficial cooperation, introduce cutting-edge technologies in manufacturing, modernize and develop the social sector, and jointly train highly qualified specialists.

In turn, representatives of Russia’s Moscow Oblast, Bryansk Oblast, and Leningrad Oblast pointed to effective cooperation with Mogilev Oblast virtually in every field. They stressed the need to further advance economic interaction and carry out joint projects to speed up the development of territories and produce a tangible economic and social effect.

An eventful program of the visit has been prepared for the Russian guests. They are expected to visit large industrial companies and social facilities, take part in negotiations and business meetings, and also learn more about the landmarks in the region and Mogilev. They will also attend an event to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Mogilev Oblast.
