MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) - In recent years, Uzbekistan and Belarus have managed to radically transformed the nature and content of their relations, bringing them to a new level, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said during the expanded-format talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 9 July, BelTA has learned.
“Over the past years, thanks to our joint efforts, we have managed to radically change the nature and content of Uzbek-Belarusian relations and elevate them to a qualitatively new level,” the Uzbekistan president emphasized.
According to him, in the history of relations between the two countries, there has never been such mutual understanding and such a high number of tangible results.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that during the talks in Minsk, an open and trusting dialogue took place, with both sides giving high praise to the results of joint work in mutual trade, industrial cooperation, agriculture, culture, education, medicine, and others. He also highlighted the sustained momentum in virtually all areas of interaction and the commitment of both parties to achieving tangible results.

“After the meetings yesterday and today, I am convinced: we have indeed accomplished a great deal, but much still remains to be done in various sectors,” the Uzbekistan president said.
He identified trade and economic cooperation as the main driver of interaction. Over the past five years, the trade between Belarus and Uzbekistan has increased nearly threefold and approached $1 billion. Since the beginning of this year, it has surged by 30%.
To further increase it to the $2 billion target set by the heads of state, a roadmap for cooperation until 2030 was signed during the Minsk visit.
