MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – Belarus is fulfilling all the recommendations of the World Health Organization regarding coronavirus containment. The situation with coronavirus remains manageable in the country, Belarusian Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik told a BelTA reporter.

When asked whether Belarus has fulfilled the recommendations of WHO, the minister answered: “More than anyone else”.

In his words, WHO has prepared an official statement in this regard. This statement will be released in the near future. “WHO writes that it fully supports our efforts and calls them most effective. It also says that border closure is not an efficient measure,” Vladimir Karanik said.

He emphasized that the situation with coronavirus remains manageable in Belarus, there is no spike in the disease. “Over the past 24 hours, no new cases were reported; more coronavirus patients will be discharged from hospital soon, as they have already tested negative,” the minister added.

As far as additional measures are concerned, this matter is under discussion now. Such measures will be adopted soon. “These  measures will seek to prevent the import of the infection. We realize that the situation in the neighboring countries is difficult, therefore we are taking efforts to minimize the possibility of importing the virus,” Vladimir Karanik said.
