MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) - The updated Constitution is the foundation for our further evolutionary development, Chairman of the Belarusian Constitutional Court Piotr Miklashevich told the media on 12 March, BelTA has learned.

“The updated Constitution of the Republic of Belarus is a legal foundation for further evolutionary, stable development of the society and the state. It expresses historically formed cultural, spiritual and moral ideals, traditional values of the Belarusian people,” said Piotr Miklashevich.

The chairman of the Constitutional Court stressed: “Knowing the Constitution, staying adhered to the principles and norms of the Constitution, exercising constitutional rights and duties is the basis of citizenship, patriotism of our young citizens, responsible attitude to themselves, those around them, and their Motherland.”

The Belarusian patriotic campaign “We are the Citizens of Belarus” is a traditional set of events run on the eve of the Constitution Day and on the Constitution Day of the country. They, among other things, include ceremonies to hand over passports of the Republic of Belarus to 14-year-old boys and girls across the country. On 12 March the young citizens of Belarus received their main documentы from Chairman of the Constitutional Court and the Constitutional Commission, Honorary Lawyer of the Republic of Belarus Piotr Miklashevich.

Since 2013, ceremonies have been held annually in the Constitutional Court, a state body designed to monitor the constitutionality of legal acts in order to protect the constitutional order, the rights and freedoms of man and citizen guaranteed by the Constitution, to ensure the supremacy of the Constitution and its direct appliance in the country.

The patriotic project that kicked off in 2004 on the initiative of the BRSM Youth Union marked its anniversary on 12 March 2022. Throughout those years, excellent students, participants of scientific and practical conferences, winners and prize-winners of national competitions, festivals, contests and subject Olympiads have received their main documents from representatives of legislative and executive authorities, public figures and other honored people of the country.
