Mezentsev: Together Belarus and Russia can ensure competitiveness of their economies

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) – Together Belarus and Russia will be able to ensure the competitiveness of the domestic economies, State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev told the STV TV channel, BelTA informs.

“Twenty-eight comprehensive, well-balanced and thoroughly elaborated Union State programs shape our joint policy in the energy sector, converge our positions on the formation of common markets of electricity, gas and other energy resources. We have realized that we should join efforts to ensure the competitiveness of national economies and boost our potential. Today, when we are facing extraordinary pressure of the sanctions, we should make the most of the market niches that have not yet been explored in Russia and Belarus,” Dmitry Mezentsev said.

According to him, import substitution programs will become extremely relevant in the near future. “Today we must implement a joint program in microelectronics. Belarus and Russia have already accumulated significant potential in this area. All in all, we should manufacture the products that will no longer be imported, because our so-called Western partners decided to weaken our domestic economies and therefore stopped deliveries of key component parts for dozens of products in the automotive industry, in high technologies, etc. But we will handle everything,” the state secretary emphasized.

Dmitry Mezentsev also spoke about the creation of the media holding company of the Union State. “The parties are working on this issue, preparing proposals. We should launch a single website, upgrade the activities of the BelRos company, analyze the work of the print media. Yet, most importantly, the information resource about our past and present, the protection of historical truth should be accessible for millions of people,” he noted.
