Metropolitan Pavel: Minsk is the place to talk about peace

MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) – Minsk is turning into a place to talk about peace and call for peace, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Pavel, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus told reporters on 8 January, BelTA has learned.

The Metropolitan noted: “Minsk is turning into a city that speaks about peace in earnest, calls people for peace and makes a strong statement urging people to live peacefully”.

Metropolitan Pavel reminded that all the priests of the Russian Orthodox Church pray for the settlement of the Ukraine crisis as soon as possible. “I hope that God will convince politicians to strive for peace in the blessed Ukrainian land,” the Metropolitan said.

Today the head of the Belarusian Orthodox Church took part in the national charity campaign Christmas Tree-Our Children that brought together children from the districts of Gomel Oblast, Mogilev Oblast, Minsk Oblast (Belarus), as well as Bryansk Oblast and Smolensk Oblast (Russia), Chernigov Oblast (Ukraine) that were affected by the Chernobyl nuclear accident the worst.
